Rabid Cricket

We were sitting around eating breakfast this morning when we heard a strange noise from the basement. The Miracle Hen suggested that it was probably a cricket and that the cats were playing with it. She left and went to work shortly thereafter, and I went downstairs to check on the cricket. It turned out that the "cricket" was actually a bat, and Sasha was standing over it pawing at it.
The bat wasn't in good shape, so I took it outside and put it out of its misery. You will have to trust me when I say that the bat didn't suffer long once it was under my care, and that on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being dead and 10 being really dead, the bat is a 10 without question.

Once that was done, I took all of our animals to the vet to get their rabies vaccines. The receptionist burped while checking me in, which I thought was a bit uncouth, but after chatting with her I was pleased to discover that we are related.

I've been away for awhile and this is what I've become.

Bread

I guess a loaf of bread really shouldn't look like this, but I was pleased with the results. It's not often that I enjoy looking at my food as much as I enjoy eating it.

This loaf was made in a food processor, which is the way to go if you enjoy bread that is insanely easy to make and delicious at the same time.

California

We just got back from vacation in California. The wine was great and the weather was perfect. Click on the picture above to view a small gallery of photos.

Nature Lovers

These two love to stare out the window and think about devouring the birds that are hopping about in the sunshine. It makes me happy to see them sharing a common interest.

Dog Park

I took this picture at the local dog park yesterday. The dogs love having a place where they can meet other dogs, run around, and go to the bathroom wherever they please. It's a great dog park and you occasionally meet some really nice people there. It's probably one of the best social scenes in town if you have a dog and a place to get a lot of confused stares if you don't.

I like to go in the morning and read while the dogs chase each other around in circles. When they run past the sandy area where I sit, they kick up a nice spray of sand that falls on the pages of my book, perfuming it in a unique and unpleasant way.
